The first tribal cultural academy in Bangladesh is located in Birishiri, in the Netrokona district.
It’s officially called the ” ক্ষুদ্র নৃ-গোষ্ঠীর কালচারাল একাডেমি” (Khudro Nri-গোষ্ঠীর Cultural Academy) which translates to “Tribal Cultural Academy” in English.
This academy was established in 1977 with the aim of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the various tribal communities living in the greater Mymensingh region, such as the Garo, Hajong, Koch, and others.
It’s an important institution for safeguarding the unique traditions, languages, and art forms of these indigenous groups in Bangladesh.
